Sotogrande International School is an International Baccalaureate day and boarding school with over 40 nationalities, offering the Primary Years Programme (3-11), the Middle Years Programme (12-16) and the Diploma (16-18), plus outstanding language and learning support.
Sotogrande places great emphasis on technology to support learning and is named as an Apple Distinguished School, which means that school meets criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments. To prepare students for effective participation and success in the 21st century school is providing access for all children to laptops, ipads and desktop computers and ensuring students have access to online learning resources both at home and at school.

ACADEMICS
Sotogrande International School provides a challenging, nurturing and academically rigorous International Education. Throughout the IB programmes teachers aim to combine academic excellence with extraordinary educational experiences.
The IB MYP is a balanced and academically rigorous programme of international education designed for students aged 11 to 16, a period which is a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development. The programme aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. It is a concept-driven and inquiry-based curriculum, which encourages students to make practical connections and the real world.
The MYP builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the Primary School (the IB Primary Years Programme) and prepares students for entry to the demanding requirements of the two-year IB Diploma Programme.
The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous two year course of study for students age 16-19, which meets the needs of highly motivated and academically oriented upper secondary school students.
The IB Diploma is accepted worldwide as a high quality pre-university qualification and universities rightly perceive that a student who has completed the requirements of the IB Diploma is well prepared for the demands of higher education.
The majority of students study for the full IB Diploma. However, SIS also offers alternative learning pathways. Students have the opportunity to study a selection of IB Diploma Programme Courses, which contain many of the same elements as the diploma with less stringent academic requirements. The SIS High School Diploma is internally assessed over the last four years of High School and often accompanied by American SAT exams.
THE BOARDING EXPERIENCE
Sotogrande’s Boarding House is a warm, vibrant international community, with dedicated staff who care for each student. This stunning campus is set among the luscious green golf courses of Southern Spain. The boarding facilities are conveniently located only 30 minutes from Gibraltar, and 1 hour from both Malaga and Jerez airports.
The Boarding House and onsite team provide a safe, welcoming space in which students can be fully immersed in school-life. Students are encouraged to take part in every aspect of boarding life, helping them to grow and develop into happy, motivated and aspirational citizens.
EXTRACURRICULARS
As a school dedicated to personalised learning and helping students to discover and pursue their passions, students are developing skills and interests in and out of the classroom. SIS provides an enormous array and variety of extra-curricular activities from sports to drama, MUN to robotics the school aims to provide activities to help children develop their own unique interests, gifts and talents.
School has developed a unique Global Citizenship Programme which empowers learners to assume active roles to face and resolve global challenges taking proactive personal responsibility for creating a more peaceful and sustainable world. The Global Citizenship Programme is guided by the UNESCO and The Council of International Schools, provides learners with the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and mutual respect and understanding, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity.
