Boarding School Exchange at Earlscliffe College

Founded in 2012, Earlscliffe College is independent, unique, and small sixth form boarding school offering a highly-personalised education for mostly international students aiming to enter top UK and US universities. Since its opening, Earlscliffe has achieved ‘The Telegraph’ national ranking of No. 38 out of 4,303 schools teaching A-level.

With its leaders and faculty’s many years’ experience in teaching and leading in well-known schools in England, Earlscliffe prides itself on providing academic stimulus, intellectual rigour, cultural enrichment, vigorous internationalism and, ultimately, personal success for all its students.

The school offers the so-called ‘gold standard’ A-Level programme in traditional subjects, providing students with the best academic preparation for entry into the world’s most competitive universities.

Earlscliffe truly offers an enriching international environment for its students. Out of its yearly 120 boarding students between ages 15-19, a grand total of 110 of them are international students – over 90% of the student population! Your experience here won’t get much more global with over 30 countries represented.

Earlscliffe is based on the beautiful Kent coast, only 55 mins from central London. Explore the city, spend time on the wide range of 40+ activities such as sports, clubs, societies, and community service, or relax on campus with your new friends from all over the world.

UNIQUE PROGRAMS

International Transition Year (ITY): International students of age 15+ can either complete a 3 Year A-level program or a one-year GCSE course (ITY). Some international students prefer to take the Earlscliffe ITY as a year away from their own system, to perfect their English, study academic subjects and get involved in boarding college life as fully as possible.

Diploma in Business and Management: Completed over 1 year and formally equivalent to two A-levels, the course comprises 6 course modules covering aspects of business and management. The course is internally assessed using a combination of written tests, presentations and a course portfolio. In order to gain entry to the best university possible, this course will be combined with one or more A-levels, As levels and the Extended Project Qualification.

University Foundation Certificate: This is for students who have completed their own country’s formal secondary school leaving certificate or qualification(s). The program is a collaboration with Dukes University and prepares students fully for UK undergraduate life at some of the country’s very best universities. Choose between 4 different pathways: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), BEM (Business, Economics and Management), Humanities, or Creative Arts.

THE BOARDING EXPERIENCE

The well-being of every member of the school community is at the heart of everything at Earlscliffe. Students are placed in one of five boarding houses – two for girls and three for boys, all within easy walking distance of the main college.

The teaching and support staff get to know all of the students well, and students contribute to their own lifestyles and governance through bodies such as the Food Committee and Student Council.

ATHLETICS

At Earlscliffe, all students have access to the nearby gym and swimming pool and can also further choose from:

Football | Basketball | Badminton | Horseback | Riding | Tennis  | Golf

All sports facilities are within walking distance, except for golf, which is a short drive away at Etchinghill Golf Club. Some of England’s greatest golf courses are on the Kent coast, including Royal St George’s at Sandwich, a regular British Open venue.

EXTRACURRICULARS

Earlscliffe offers a varied and meaningful extra-curricular program with 40+ activities such as clubs, societies, and community service. Clubs and societies include:

UNESCO Youth Ambassador Program | Model U.N | Debating Club | Public Speaking | Global Politics | Creative Writing | Italian | Poetry | Chess | Drama | Singing | ‘Movers and Shakers’
